Cycling Without Age is a movement started in 2012 by Ole Kassow. Ole wanted to help the elders get back on their bicycles, but he had to find a solution to their limited mobility. The answer was a trishaw and he started offering free bike rides to the local nursing home residents. Come feel the wind in your hair with a trishaw tour of the Nelson Crossing Trail.

Doty Island PorchFest
Thursday, Aug. 25 | 5:30 – 8:30pm | Smith Park, Menasha
301 Park St, Menasha, WI 54952
The Doty Island Development Council will be hosting its 4th annual PorchFest in Smith Park, Menasha. This year we have 8 musical acts – including a few favorites you’ve seen before! The loudest band this year may not be Elvis or Greywolf Run…. we are predicting it’s going to be The Hasband. It’s a full 18-piece brass band that will be located in front of the Memorial Building. It’s members consist of teachers, parents, alumni and students associated with the “H”ortonville “A”rea “S”chool District. Also new this year is the Fire Dancer. She will be performing from 5:30pm-8:00pm
The bands located on Park Street play from 5:30pm-7:30pm and the bands located on Cleveland/Nicolet Blvd. play from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Hasband, located at the Memorial Building, plays from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
The food truck vendors are Fast Taco, Osario’s Latin Fusion and Terra Verde. We’ve added one more food service provider this year. The Menasha High School Culinary Department will be joining the food truck area. They’ll be serving pulled pork sandwiches, chips and soda!
Amanda Zehren has been our sidewalk chalk artist for the last few years. Her board-game theme art is always a hit. This year’s theme is Chutes & Ladders. The art will be interactive; the attendees will be able to use a spinner to move (sidewalk) squares to get from one music act to another. Hopefully you can miss the slides!
On a safety note, this is a pedestrian-friendly event. There is very limited parking so we recommend attendees park away from Smith Park and use alternate transportation (bikes, walking, scooters, etc) to limit the interaction between pedestrians and vehicles.
